What Three Decades Have Taught Me About Faith
After living three decades, I have come to realize that faith is much deeper than what people see on the outside. Praying five times a day is a beautiful and important act of worship, but prayer alone does not automatically make someone a better person. True faith should be reflected in our character, our intentions, and the way we treat others.
The fear of Allah is not simply about how often we pray, how religious we appear, or how much we speak about our faith. It is about having a heart that remembers Allah even when no one is watching. It is choosing honesty when lying would benefit us. It is showing kindness when we have nothing to gain. It is refusing to hurt others even when we know we could get away with it.
As I have grown older, I have learned that people can know every word of a prayer and still fail to understand the meaning of compassion, humility, forgiveness, and justice. Real faith should make us more conscious of our actions, more accountable for our behavior, and more careful with the hearts of others.
We should not use religion to judge, belittle, control, or hurt people. Instead, our worship should soften our hearts and improve the way we live.
At the end of the day, Allah knows what is in every heart. What matters most is not simply what we show the world, but who we become when nobody is watching.
May Allah guide us all toward sincere faith, good character, and righteous actions. Ameen. š¤
