My mom passed away unexpectedly right after I closed on my first home. She never got to see it in person and that shatters me. All she saw were the low resolution listing photos on Zillow. Nevertheless, she was still in awe. She cried tears of joy for me when I shared the news that I got the house. She wanted this house so badly for me that she helped me with part of the down payment. I would not own this home if it werent for her and my gratitude is endless. Since I can’t show my mom, I just want to share current photos of my home with people who love old houses too. 🤎🗝️ Located in Connecticut.

Please help me decide whether to keep this front door with storm door or not, in our new to us 1920 house. I want to keep it but I’m concerned about: #1 safety; and #2 energy efficiency.

My family owns this house in upstate NY. It was built by a family member in 1865 and has always been in the family. My parents bought it in 2018 and have been fixing it up so we have a vacation home. It’s on 19 acres that are completely untouched woods and creeks! It’s so quiet and peaceful. My dad refuses to put in cable or internet so you’re forced to unplug when you’re there.
Update: I’ve come to realize it’s actually western NY. I’m a Florida girl born and raised so anything outside the city is upstate for me. It’s a small city in rural NY near Elmira.
