At this year’s World Cup, while fans are watching the players, companies like Ondas Holdings and Fortem Technologies will be watching the skies.⁣

This year’s tournament isn’t just a battle for soccer supremacy. It’s also a major test of whether the United States can protect packed stadiums from a quickly evolving security threat: the cheap, nimble and autonomous drones that have upended modern warfare in Ukraine and Iran.⁣

Both businesses have multimillion-dollar contracts to protect World Cup stadiums with the federal government, which is pouring $365 million into drone-focused security for the 104 matches hosted across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. ⁣

That includes $250 million from FEMA, bookmarked for the 11 states hosting World Cup matches, and another $115 million from DHS for counter-drone technology at tournament venues.⁣

NASA on Tuesday revealed the four astronauts who will join the next Artemis mission — a key, two-week flight that will aim to test out various technologies considered vital to putting astronauts back on the surface of the moon for the first time in more than 50 years.

The crew, set to launch as soon as late 2027, includes three NASA astronauts — first-time space flier Andre Douglas, record-setting astronaut Frank Rubio, and veteran flier and test pilot Randy Bresnik — as well as Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano with the European Space Agency.

Artemis III is designed to serve as a precursor mission to a moon landing, testing out how the NASA-built Orion spacecraft will dock with a lunar lander. The primary goal of the flight, the space agency says, is to "reduce risk" heading into an actual lunar touchdown, which NASA hopes will take place as soon as 2028.

Perhaps no data center’s location is as unexpected as this one. The small Norwegian municipality of Narvik is an old Viking port high above the Arctic Circle, shrouded in frigid darkness for much of the winter. In March, TIME was granted an exclusive tour of the site, which is one of the biggest AI data center projects in Europe, as well as the northernmost in the world.

What might seem like one of the most inconvenient places for a data center is actually one of the best, according to Nscale, an AI company that is currently one of Europe’s hottest startups, valued at $14.6 billion. Known as a “neocloud,” it is part of a new category of tech companies that have risen up to satiate the market’s ravenous hunger for AI computing power. Norway’s dramatic topography is a far cry from the flat plains of Texas, where another neocloud is building the flagship Stargate campus for OpenAI and Oracle. TIME reporter Billy Perrigo reports from Norway where this new data center is under construction through the rain and snow.

Statues of Shivaji are rising across India. The founder of the Maratha empire, who fought against the Muslim Mughal dynasty that dominated much of present-day India for around 200 years, is now a symbol for nationalists remaking the country.

Hindu nationalists promote Shivaji as a self-made, pan-Indian martial hero. Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India has lauded Shivaji’s bravery in keeping foreign invaders at bay. Several states where Modi’s political party holds power have committed funds to projects promoting Shivaji’s legacy. The Indian Navy has adopted a new ensign that takes inspiration from Shivaji’s seal. There are even Shivaji T-shirts and wristwatches for sale online.

But critics say the legacy of the Maratha king has been twisted to suit the goals of those who want to remake India into a Hindu nation.
