Esther was one of God's people who faced persecution. Married against her will to the king of Persia, she found herself in a position of dubious influence. Her people were under threat of annihilation, and she was the only one who could do something about it by speaking to the king about the matter in an official capacity.

Esther knew that approaching the king brought great risk; she could be killed for her breach of protocol. But she had great faith, believing that the God of Israel was not bound by borders, procedure, or protocol! She would entrust herself to God as she took a risk for His people. 🧡

Esther's commitment was rewarded. The king looked upon her with favor and granted her requests. God delivered the Jewish community from certain death and destroyed their enemies in dramatic fashion. 🙌

God used exile to lead Israel back to Himself for forgiveness. Their restoration to the land would coincide with their restoration to faithfulness, and it started by rebuilding the House of the Lord, the Temple. 🙌

Solomon's prayer anticipated that Israel would always find God in their business, ready to forgive them when they turned to Him. 💙 ☁️

Are you having a difficult time accepting God's forgiveness? Turn to the promises He made to His people and remind yourself that He has a plan. In Christ He has forgiven you! 🩷

We share in the grief and the joy of this update of Robert making it Safely Home with Jesus. 😢 ❤️‍🩹 May the LORD pour out His healing and comfort to Nancy and Robert's family in this difficult time. Join us in lifting them up in prayer. 🙏

Whenever Robert traveled any distance—perhaps driving to an appointment or an airport or flying to another city—when he reached his destination, he would text me a single word: Safe. He wanted to let me know that he had arrived.

I'm writing to let you know that Robert is “safe.” My “DH” (dear husband) has arrived at his final destination. He is safely Home.

Over the last few days, several close friends and family members have kept vigil with me around Robert’s bed, singing hymns, praying, waiting, weeping . . . and worshiping. His children and grandchildren (who we were able to spend time with less than a month ago) said good-bye through FaceTime.

Last night, one of Robert’s brothers and his wife spent the night with me in the hospital room. Robert’s breathing had been slowing down, with longer pauses between each one.

Just before 5:00 this morning, I was prompted to play a beautiful song called “Come to Jesus.” The last stanza says:

And with your final heartbeat, kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side.

And fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live.

On the phrase, “with your final heartbeat,” Robert took a gasping breath. We watched intently, waiting to see if he would take another one. It was to be his last.

At the end of the chorus, Robert’s brother said softly, with wonder and awe: “He just flew to Jesus!”

It was a sacred, glorious moment. An incredible gift from the Lord.

We left Robert’s tired, worn-out body in the hospital room. Soon it will be laid into the ground. But Robert has never been more alive. This faithful, courageous, precious man of God has entered his eternal rest and reward—not because of anything he did to deserve it, but because of the magnificent, redeeming grace and love of Christ.

Many tears have been shed in these days. And there will be many more to come. Robert loved me in a way I had never before imagined possible. The Lord gave us an amazing ten years together (122 months next week!), to joyfully love and serve Him, each other, and others. Robert has been an exquisite treasure to me. It feels surreal to think of him being gone.

But I know that one day, in the resurrection, Robert’s body will be transformed “into the likeness of [Christ’s] glorious body” (Phil 3:21). No more sickness, sadness, suffering, or sorrow.

Steve Green’s “Safely Home” has been ministering grace to my heart this morning. I hope you’ll take time to listen to it and to give thanks with me for God’s mercy in taking Robert to live in the house of the Lord forever.

“Today there's sorrow.
But joy tomorrow.
Safely home.”

In the book of Judges, the nation swung from times of obedience and victory to times of disobedience and suffering. Their situation reflected the forgetfulness of people and their need for a strong, godly leader. They didn't learn from the pain; someone would have to guide them. 🤝

God raised up judges, who led the nation to victory and a time of righteousness. But when the judge died, they forgot the bad times and turned from the Lord again and again. 🌱

Have you minimized the effects of sin in your life? Have you forgotten what life apart from God looks like? Take time to remind yourself of your need to remain close to Him. 💙

Please join the Moody Radio family in lifting up Robert and Nancy as well as their family and loved ones, trusting the Lord at this time for His sustaining grace and mercy 💚

Precious ones,

This is not a report I had hoped to be sending. But the Lord is making His will known to us and we are saying, “Yes, Lord. We surrender to Your plan, knowing that You are good and You can be trusted to write our story.”

Nearly three years ago, Robert released a book called “Finish Line.” The subtitle is: “Dispelling fear, finding peace, and preparing for the end of your life.” Robert believes and has beautifully lived the message of that book.

Now my DH (dear husband) has run his race and is approaching the finish line.
Since my last update, we have had discussions with members of Robert’s family and his dedicated medical team. After much prayer and with trust in God’s sovereignty, we have decided to transition to comfort-focused care for Robert. The loving nurses and doctors here are doing all they can to help give him a pain-free, anxiety-free death.

Scripture tells us that “all [our days] were written in [His] book and planned before a single one of them began” (Psalm 139:16). Only the Lord knows exactly when He will take His servant Home. But we anticipate that within the next few days, Robert will be with Jesus. He has told me many times that “Bobbie [his late wife] showed us how to die, and I am not afraid.”

We are grateful to be surrounded by people he loves and who love him dearly. Robert is not at all responsive, though the doctors have told us it is possible he can hear the songs, prayers, Scripture, and sweet conversations taking place in this room. (This has been a holy place, with many wonderful gospel opportunities throughout these days.)

This afternoon I was on a zoom call with Robert’s siblings, daughters, and grandchildren. In the midst of the deep sorrow we are all experiencing, we worshiped the Lord for His faithfulness, kindness, and mercy to us and for the privilege of knowing and loving Robert.

This morning, a friend sent me these words spoken by a man in the grip of intense suffering: “Can the dead live again? If so, this would give me hope through all my years of struggle, and I would eagerly await the release of death” (Job 14:14).

God's Word assures us that those who die in Christ will indeed "live again." That conviction gives us hope through our years of struggling on this earth. It has given Robert and me great hope in our own journeys. If Robert could speak, I believe he would want us to know that he is eagerly awaiting the release that will come to him when he takes his last breath on earth and enters into his eternal rest and reward.

Thank you for your love and prayers for me and for Robert's family and friends over these next hours, as we release Robert to the faithful, loving hands of our great Savior. You mean more to us than you can know.

Heaven rules.

Jesus is near to the brokenhearted.

With deep love, gratitude, and hope through Christ who is redeeming and making all things new,

Nancy

Between divorce, seven years of long-distance marriage, and her daughter’s adult-onset epilepsy, Cynthia Hunter has experienced more than her fair share of waiting and grieving. But she has rock-solid faith that God is in control during the unknown, and thanks to Moody Radio, she is constantly reminded that she’s not alone.

Cynthia started listening to Moody Radio more than 30 years ago, and it has become a lifeline of hope for her. Whether it’s Open Line, Chris Fabry Live, or one of the online music channels, Cynthia is always tuned in to Moody Radio.

“On one of my rough days, I was driving to the hospital,” Cynthia says. This route to the hospital is a frequent ride for her, as she has become used to dropping everything to go see Ginny after a seizure. Moody Radio was on her car radio, and the hosts were talking about how listeners pray for each other. “That morning, I thought, Okay, God’s sending me encouragement. People are praying.”

Whether it’s with encouragement that she’s not in this alone, the reminder that God will provide, or a story that hits home at the exact right moment, Moody Radio has been Cynthia’s constant companion.

The journey hasn’t been easy—and it’s not over yet—but while they wait for answers, Cynthia and Ginny are holding on to what they know is true: God is working, and He is good.

“I know that looking back, I’ll be able to say, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s what He was doing,’” Cynthia says. “Right now I can’t see it, but He’s there. He’s always there.”

What does the word "glory" or "glorious" mean to you? How do these words describe Jesus? 🤔 💭

When we characterize something as "glorious," we mean it is spectacular, amazingly beautiful, almost defying description. Jesus is the Lord of Glory, both kingly and divine. The Hebrew word for glory refers to brightness, splendor, magnificence, or majesty. 🙌 🌄
