🌊 Four of the most beautiful animals on Earth. Most people will never see them.
These are Nudibranchs — soft-bodied sea slugs found on coral reefs worldwide. And they are absolutely wild.
🟠 Top left: Flabellina species — white body with vivid orange-tipped cerata (the feathery plumes), gliding across orange coral
⚫ Top right: Tambja or Hypselodoris species — jet black with bright yellow trim lines and golden spots, like a luxury sports car designed by the ocean
🟢 Bottom left: Nembrotha species — glossy black body with neon green polka dots and vivid orange gill plumes on top, possibly the most extra animal alive
💜 Bottom right: Phyllidia species — cream-white body covered in vivid purple-pink spiked tubercles, like a living pin cushion
Here's what makes them extraordinary:
🎨 There are over 3,000 species of nudibranchs — every single one looks different
☠️ Those colors are a warning — most are highly toxic or taste terrible to predators
🔄 They are hermaphrodites — every individual has both male and female organs
🧪 Some steal stinging cells from the anemones they eat and repurpose them as their own weapons
📏 They range from 4mm to 60cm in size
