Polly and Peg (1974) (excerpt from second season)
Directed by Aaron Hautala
Concept and characters by: Aaron Hautala
Peg: Hey Polly, what are you drawing?
Polly: It's supposed to be a pig, but the ears are all wonky. I don't know what to do.
Peg: Hmm, I see what you mean. Well, maybe you could try to fix the ears?
Polly: But what if I make it worse? Maybe I should just start over.
Peg: I don't know, Polly. Sometimes when we focus too much on fixing our mistakes, we end up overcompensating and making it worse. Maybe you could try to focus on the parts that you like about the picture and build off of that.
Polly: I see what you're saying, but I don't want to ignore the mistake. I don't want it to stand out.
Peg: That's a valid concern, Polly. But you know what always makes things better? Pink!
Polly: Pink?
Peg: Yes, pink! Maybe you could add some pink to the pig's nose or the background. It'll brighten up the picture and draw attention away from the wonky ears.
Polly: Hmm, I never thought of that. And you're right, pink does make things better.
Peg: See? It's all about finding a balance. Instead of focusing too much on the mistake, we can add some elements we like to the picture and make it our own. And who knows, maybe someday we'll get better at drawing pigs with perfect ears. But for now, let's just enjoy the process and see where it takes us.
Polly: I like that idea. And you know what, I'm going to add some pink to the pig's nose. That way, even if the ears aren't perfect, at least it'll look cute and colorful.
Peg: Yes! I love it. And remember, Polly, the most important thing is to have fun and be creative. That's what makes art so special. It’s about process, not product!
