Frank Uryasz Jr., 95, leads a 100-member Taylor Swift fan club in his retirement home. The Washington Post Reports
He was introduced to Taylor Swift’s music by his occupational therapist, Sarah Zajic, who played “Timeless (Taylor’s Version)” in a session. It struck him deeply; it reminded him of his own 70-year marriage to his late wife, Ann “Peach” Uryasz.
After that, Frank became a fervent Swiftie. He decorated his walker with a sign, a “TAYLOR SW1FT” license plate, and wore a pin that says “I ❤️ TAYLOR.” What started as a small goal (10–20 people) blossomed into a 100‑member fan club within the retirement community.
Residents now wear Swift pins, listen to her music during communal activities (like chair volleyball), and even built a cardboard tour bus and ticket booth at the community. The fan club meets during bingo nights and afternoons. The community, which used to quiet down early, now has people chatting late, listening to Swift together, and organizing events around her music. Fans from outside the community have mailed them gifts, including bracelets, cookies with album names, and Swift merchandise.
Frank, despite being 95 and needing help streaming music, has requested a record player so he can listen to Swift’s vinyl. He’s actively reaching out: he wrote a letter to Taylor and Travis Kelce expressing his admiration, hopes they might visit, and comparing their love story to his own. Sarah Zajic is also teaching him the TikTok dance for “The Fate of Ophelia” — the idea is to create a dance mob in the retirement community.
This is such a sweet story
