As we enter Thanksgiving week, I’m reminded of why I have spent the past seven years writing about the Meal, discussing slow foods, slow meals, and the importance of slowing down long enough—not just to eat, but to be nourished on a deeper level.

The Meal is more than just food…

It’s a five-sense experience—one that nourishes us physically, mentally, and emotionally while awakening creativity, deepening relationships, and strengthening connections.

In a world that moves quickly, the table remains one of the few places where we can intentionally choose to slow down—not for productivity or performance, but for presence. ✨

As we begin Thanksgiving week, here’s your Monday reset to help you step into the holiday with calm and clarity (a reminder for myself as well, as tension rises around the house before the big feast šŸ˜‰ )

🧘 Breathe deeply and meditate—focus on presence before productivity.

šŸ“Plan your menu (if you haven’t already).

šŸ±Clean out your fridge to create space for the abundance that’s coming.

🫜Shop today for fresh ingredients and to avoid the crowds.

🦃 And yes—buy your turkey.

A grounded start sets the tone for the entire week. Here’s to more meaningful meals, deeper conversations, and moments worth remembering—both at home and at work.

For more on slow meals, integrative wellness, and building deeper connection at work and at home, you can follow my writing on Substack:

Make the call.

Book the appointment.

Have the conversation.

Say it out loud!

Declare your goals to a friend.

Stop thinking about it.

Just do it.

Innovation often starts with solving your own problem ✨

Last week, I had a soul-nourishing walk with my friend and fellow health and wellness practitioner, Meredith Berry Vieceli of WildBerry Wellness.

We talked about how our paths have paralleled each other in the most unexpected ways.

Years ago—before social media and before ā€œwellnessā€ became a buzzword—I found myself on a personal health journey. I had been helping busy professionals stay fit and healthy when I learned I had genetically high cholesterol.

Through nutrition and movement, I lowered it naturally—but as a vegetarian, I noticed something missing: there wasn’t a single great-tasting, clean, soy-based nutrition bar on the market.

So, in my passion and naivety, I created one. 🌱

Healthy Soylutions was born from late nights in my kitchen, experimenting with soy nut butter, designing packaging, building an e-commerce site, and figuring out manufacturing—all before social media!

When I shared this with Meredith, she laughed because she had done the exact same thing around the same time—creating her own clean bar for the same reason.

We also discovered we both crossed the same barriers to success. We didn’t know each other then, but somehow, our journeys mirrored one another.

We’ve both learned that sometimes innovation means creating what you need most. And over time, that path often leads back to your purpose: sharing wisdom—teaching others how to nourish, heal, and thrive.

Now, as two seasoned wellness practitioners and coaches, we’re channeling those lessons into something new- an innovation based on what is needed.

Each season of life has shaped my path in wellness—and this November marks 30 years of that journey. šŸŽ‰

From
🩺corporate fitness,
🌱a nutrition bar start-up,
šŸ’†ā€ā™€ļøto personal holistic skincare,
šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļøto owning a yoga center,
šŸ‘©šŸ¼ā€šŸ¼motherhood,
šŸ„—and a grassroots publication celebrating the Meal—every chapter has led to a deeper integration of wellness speaking, coaching, and consulting.

Health, wellness, nutrition, and mindset training have been my life’s work—and now I’m sharing the lessons learned along the way.

Follow along this month as I travel Through the Seasons of 30 Years of Living Well — reflections, insights, mistakes and rebounds, and of course shout outs to all my mentors along the way.

I am still buzzing ✨from the Girls on the Run NW Illinois Be Well ~ Be Nourished event last Thursday Crystal Creek Farm Venue!

We were all surprised and inspired by our guest speaker and girl of the hour — Natasha W.! āļø

A three-year Girls on the Run participant from St. Thomas School, Natasha shared a powerful impact statement about how the program helped her grow in confidence, set goals, and shine not just in the 5K, but in all areas of her life.

I’ve had the honor of coaching Natasha and learning from her along the way. She’s a natural leader, always ready with quick-witted improv to make everyone smile, and a kind, compassionate friend who lifts others up.

She is truly a bright example of what Girls on the Run is all about — confidence, connection, and courage. šŸ’•šŸƒā€ā™€ļøāœØ

With all the digital inputs today, resetting your nervous system is imperative for health!

That’s where sound healing and mindful movement come in.

Movement helps release tension, improve focus, and re-energize the body during long workdays.

Sound healing calms the nervous system, reduces stress, and creates mental clarity.

Together, they:
āœ… Boost creativity and problem-solving
āœ… Improve focus and productivity
āœ… Reduce burnout and stress
āœ… Build connection and community among teams

This week I was thrilled to join Lori Lea HealingHopes in a Mindful Movement and Sound Healing series.

Guided movement and sound can shift the entire atmosphere of a workplace, group, organization. Imagine starting (or ending) your team meeting with everyone feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected.

Workplace wellness doesn’t have to be complicated—it can be as simple as giving employees the tools to reset and recharge.

Curious about bringing sound healing + movement to your group or organization? Let’s connect—I’d love to share how it can transform your energy, health, and the community around you.
