Today on Community Chatter, I was joined by Arbutus "Beauty" Winfrey and Francisco Herrera of the West Side Heroin/Opioid Task Force to discuss the growing opioid crisis and why addiction can affect anyone.
We discussed how opioid addiction often begins with a prescription after surgery or injury, the growing impact on seniors, and why replacing stigma with compassion is critical to saving lives. Collaborative Bridges is proud to serve as the Host Site for the 7th Annual International Overdose Awareness Day Community Event, themed "Time to Remember. Time to Act." The event is presented by the West Side Heroin/Opioid Task Force in partnership with Habilitative Systems, Inc. (HSI), Loretto Hospital, and OVC Wellness.
Join us Thursday, August 28, at the public lot located at the intersection of Lake Street and Karlov Avenue for free health resources, overdose prevention training, food, clothing, haircuts, mobile health services, and other vital community support.
