Blu 9 Chicago born and raised dj/producer within the ranks of the underground house/techno scene. Djing is more than playing and mixing music. Makes my soul happy.

A trained musician since age six, music has been the forefront and paved the path of her journey. Starting with violin, and followed by percussion and some piano, she benefited from ongoing training and exposure throughout her school aged years, which fueled both her creativity and love for all types of music. Watching family members at a young age spin in the Chicago club scene, starting off on T

echnics and watching how they created the energy of the dance floor, all in the while thinking, “Yes, I want and can do that!”
While the demands of schooling, career, and family took over as it tends to do, music remained a priority focus as she kept close watch over the evolution of her favorite genres, in particular house and techno music. When the time was right, she came back out of background and started to play the music that made her fall in love with the genres. Currently, using music in her daily life with her students she changed the way she thought about and interacted with genres of house and techno music. Using and teaching the soul of it to her special needs students has been a priority and matching music with choreography has been another manifestation of creativity. “The most beautiful sight to watch is my daughter dancing to what we created….beauty.”
Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, she’s played Chicago’s clubs including Spybar, Primary Night Club (Poolhouse), Estate, Fedora Lounge, SC, SSS, Rodan, Crocodile, Studio 200 (Milwaukee) all the while holding a steady residency at Rivers Casino. If you are lucky and the night owl you can see and hear her at various afterhours across the city. Her mixes can also be heard on several radio shows such as Strictly Dance Radio and Underground House TV. Also, she is currently working on projects and tracks with Afterdark Recordings and PhunkJunk Records. Her sound is deep, smooth, and sometimes dark and complex, with soulfulness infused. Depending on her mood, the energy of the dance floor as well as her decision to play the electric violin and drums with her sets shapes and molds the vibe of the room.
“Appreciation of classics is what molds the future of music. It's what moves your soul. Just me doing what I love!

Taking a quiet moment this morning to reflect on how far the journey has brought me.
It’s easy to keep moving without looking back, but today I’m pausing—not just to see how much has been accomplished, but to honor how much was overcome.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who believed in me along the way, especially on the days I struggled to believe in myself. Your support has been a light on the tougher paths.

If there’s anything I hope my journey says, it’s this: keep going. Even when it’s hard, especially when you can’t see the summit yet. Your moment is being built right now, in the quiet effort no one sees.

Here’s to honoring our growth, celebrating small wins, and lifting others as we climb. ✨
With that said catch me if you can!
Spooky season is lighting up!

🕊️ Heartbroken to hear about the passing of the legendary Ron Carroll. My deepest love and condolences go out to his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. I was lucky enough to work with him on a few projects, and one moment in particular has stayed with me forever.
After a tough gig where I’d been pressured to play a certain way—and left visibly frustrated—Ron called me over to his car. I told him what happened, and he said something I’ll never forget:

“Blu, you’re known for playing your style—your techno. When you play anything other than you, even if it’s what they asked for… that’s not what they hear. They still hear techno, because they hear you.”

It was his way of telling me: Don’t dim your frequency to fit someone else’s request. Your sound is your signature. Your soul is your style. That wisdom shaped me. It reminded me that being true to yourself isn’t just an choice—it’s your power.
Thank you, Ron, for the music, the moments, and the magic. Rest easy, sir. ♥️🎶
