http://chng.it/g5K8Df5m Dearborn Homes Petition

For a Grocery Store for the residents of Dearborn Homes Residents to be secure at 2711 S. State Street.

We members of the Dearborn Homes Chicago Public Housing neighborhood and the public at large, petition the City of Chicago, Chicago Housing Authority and Elected officials to come together in bringing about a Grocery Store for Dearborn Homes residents. Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot Chicago’s INVEST South/West as well as the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 3, Hope 6 project is a well investment initiative to support a grocery store for Dearborn Homes like there are available for most high rise residential buildings in the Loop area.
The launch is designed to invite the focus of a grocery store to locate or expand to commercial space at 2711 S. State Street for Dearborn Homes as once served by Don’s Food Mart targeting the needs of the residents as the main direction.
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS: Secure the backing of the City of Chicago, Elected officials and Chicago Housing Authority with meeting the objectives of:
• Secure official dates for project stages with resolutions by CHA and Chicago agencies upon needed.
• Location (2711 S. State Street, https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2711-S-State-St-Chicago-IL/11762259/)
• To determine how many new jobs are to be created in a selected time frame
• Products that can be established for the store (Whole sellers has been identified).
• Create a practical means of bringing Community Members in touch with the spirit of the store.
• Encourage trade marketing by the residents.
• The funding request, market analysis and investment analysis for growth to benefit the residents, the ownership.
The potential of this store is a long overdue. Dearborn Homes have new residents and youth that did not witness the value of Don’s Food Mart. The youth must see their families and communities

May 19 is the birth of Malcolm X, (it is also the day Black Wall Street Chicago was formed in his honor.) I ask of you to pass on as much of his words on to others; Was he a man of the times that made him, or the man that made the times?

Please do not make your assessment on this clip, but do listen to realize the importance of our Shinning Black Prince. And submit your own to others and share in honor of his birth.

The purpose of this video is for Black people and the oppressed living in America to pool our wealth and resources and accomplish great economic gains and ev...

Dear Aldermen and Associates,
We represent a group of concerned citizens and organizations from many of your respected wards who are deeply troubled by the disturbing lack of racial parity of the work being done under the Aldermanic Menu, and as it related to the overall contract procurement from Section 3 Federal Funded and other projects.
As requested over the years since 2010, we would like to schedule a meeting with Black Caucus of the Chicago City Council and your personal concerns to discuss your potential and stated support for the proposed Parity Ordinance of the Aldermanic Menu Funds — a proposal drafted by a cross-section team directed by Black Wall Street Chicago. You can find the attached provisions.
As you know, constituents of all the wards are becoming more aware of the influence of funds of our government and the increasing role it has in capital improvement policy-making decisions. Black wards are perennially on the verge of economic crisis, in part because contracts triumphs over racial parity.
In Chicago, the government representing the people. However, ‘We the People’ will continue to be drowned out unless we take a stand in opposition to the unbridled racial divide in Chicago procurement. That is exactly why we are writing to you again today. Many of all not all of you have been presented this proposal.
We represent just one chapter of the concern; as in the next few days many groups are calling for direction from you aldermen that are working with community leaders to build a parity at least to start with the basics of the Aldermanic Menu.
This is proposed, by and for The People (as example of am 18th ward Block Club of Chicago) and from the sigth of contractors in front of the 17th ward office. This is our directive to stand with your direction and take a position on behalf of your constituents. We understand that–though your support will help build momentum among the broader public.
We are available to meet at the first meeting of the Black Caucus. Please let us know what other information we can provide to move this request forward. We look forward to hearing from you in securing our meeting with you.

Sincerely,

Ron Carter, Chair
Black Wall Street Chicago
