"Confidence is silent, but insecurities are loud."
FISH EYE explores the struggle of self-expression through the eyes of a homeless artist whose soul wanders the streets of a vibrant, diverse city.
This 15-minute, stylized film begins with the perspective of a man whose life is tragically cut short just after completing a painting. Following his death, his spirit drifts across the city, witnessing surreal and seemingly intimate moments in the lives of 22 individuals, paired into 12 groups.
The film offers a fragmented yet profound glimpse into the emotions and philosophies of these city dwellers—from the rich to the poor, the young to the old, businessmen to criminals. While they quote famous lines and loosely respond to one another, they never fully connect or grasp each other’s inner struggles. The only true dialogue comes from the homeless artist and a little girl, who stumbles upon his painting while walking with her father. Inspired, she touches the painting, bringing it to life in a moment of beauty that wipes the world clean.
FISH EYE was shot in a single continuous take, spanning 8 city blocks, and features 22 incredibly talented, improvisational actors from the Chicagoland area, each bringing depth and authenticity to their roles.
