Chicago Sound Studios

Chicago Sound Studios Chicago Sound Studio is a re-purposing of my old Recording studio page to publish current production and recording projects I am working on.

Think I may turn this into a Write on Carroll Community page for people who produce and play music at the 3005 W. Carroll practice building.

So I have been contemplating an outline for a series of webcasts and video series. A few people up at the studio have been talking about this type of concept so i was thinking about the technology and just general way to flesh things out and I think I came up with a few ideas. I have been thinking about it because I basically inherited the Chicago Sound Studio business web account when the business folded. [ 1532 more words. ]

Ah back in the day before video media tainted the music industry with all its new criteria that had nothing to do with music. You ever wonder how much great music the world missed out on because the industry shifted focus to supermodel di**os who are auto-tuned into oblivion? I sure do.

It seemed musicians of the past were graded more on their musical abilities over looks, not to say that those involved in big music houses now are talentless... but being real; I have met people who are way more naturally talented but didn't have the "it" look that I would have rather seen famous or even promoted more than industry children and groomed super models.

Here are some great artists that would never make it in today's superficial music industry:

- Aretha Franklin
- Louis Armstrong
- Muddy Waters
- Big Mamma Thorton
- Elle Fitzgerads

Think about that the next time your hear that horrid pitch shift of autotune in your music. Because there was someone out there with a beautiful voice that could hit those notes, but you chose not to listen to them because they were visually unappealing and you would rather listen to some brat s**t out over processed vocals about hanging out at "da club" to a s**t ass beat generated by a computer because dude has a six pack. That's a lot like judging a painting by the music the art gallery plays during a art showing.

I hate that music has evolved into a fashion show, where each genera is just a different costume for the fans to put on. Unfortunately music has transcended into an identity factory for those without their own personality.

I spent the day today working with some familiar audio applications and Windows 10. Let me preface this that I have really had no issues with Windows 10 and newer software, but as some of my audiowares are bit dated the new OS receives the grade of "Janky" While the majority of the applications and plug in are functional, I will be moving back to a windows 7 build for the PC so I can have better integration. Well step one is near completed this weekend. This comprised of getting the studio room together and making sure that the mixer and microphone sources were all set up. While I need to review it with a fresh head I think we resolved a lot of the monitoring and playback issues that had developed in the systems neglect. We did a lot of discussion on how to bring audio and video production to public audience. [ 96 more words. ]

I know this sound kinda stupid, but does anyone know where to slop sink for free. A few of us have been talking about installing a slop sink on the 4th floor to make it easier to mop and clean our rooms. The building has always been D.I.Y. so its kind of a way for it not to look and smell like the background in a SAW movie.

Got back from auditioning for the band Killwave and ended up doing a bunch of playing last night. Did a lot of testing with my camera on my phone last night. Think things came out pretty good. This thing is pretty awesome. This was a Jam with my buddy lou. I played with my old band mates later in the evening.
