August RECAP ✨
August was exactly what I needed before stepping into September (aka my busiest month every year). Since it was National Wellness Month, I leaned all the way in—got back into therapy, slowed down, and gave myself space to just be. With my birthday around the corner (34 🖤), I’m heading into this new season grounded and hopeful. I hope you find a little peace for yourself this month too.
R — Reading: The Memo (8.5/10, solid tips), Professional Troublemaker (10/10, bold and affirming), and Sisters of the Yam (10/10, truly transformative for me as a Black woman).
E — Eating: Food brings me joy. I cooked at home, found a new favorite salmon dish, discovered a neighborhood spot I really like and tried Sweetgreen for the first time ever… holy s**t, where has it been all my life? lol.
C — Care: Staying consistent with my body care— sleep mask, my tried-and-true , and collagen every night. I’ve been reminding myself that self-care can be an act of resistance in a world that demands so much from us.
A — Activity: This month was about nurturing creativity—starting a crochet project, caring for my little plant, and daily walks with Honey.
P — Progress: Quiet but steady. Moving with passion, laying foundations, and slowly bringing something bigger to life—for me, and for women who look like me.
✨ August felt almost spiritual—a quiet practice of reconnecting with myself, my creativity, and the little things that bring me joy. I know September will be one of those months that feels like someone set me on fire and threw gasoline on top, but this is my reminder: to hold onto who I am, what I enjoy, and to keep weaving the small things into my days. As we step into this new month, I hope you also find the practices, joys, and simple moments that keep you grounded.
