We are proud that some of Community TV Network's videos are part of this Gallery 400 exhibit about art education and community building! The exhibit opens tomorrow, September 5.
Join us tomorrow, September 5, from 6 - 8pm as we highlight Chicagoโs history of progressive art pedagogy from the mid-1960s to the 2010s through our new exhibition ๐๐๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ง: ๐ผ๐ง๐ฉ ๐๐๐ช๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐พ๐ค๐ข๐ข๐ช๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ
The culmination of 3 years of research and spanning almost sixty years, ๐๐๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ง utilizes unique objects such as contemporary art, ephemera, documentation of co-created public art and more to explore how educators helped foster creativity and imagination, autonomy, cultural heritage, and organizing across Chicago Public Schools, alternative school networks, and community organizations.
๐๐๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ง: ๐ผ๐ง๐ฉ ๐๐๐ช๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐พ๐ค๐ข๐ข๐ช๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ is part of Art Design Chicago, a citywide collaboration initiated by the Terra Foundation for American Art that highlights the cityโs artistic heritage and creative communities.
๐๐๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ง is presented in companionship with UICโs Jane Addams Hull-House Museum and its exhibition ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐พ๐ง๐๐๐ฉ: ๐ผ๐ง๐ฉ๐จ ๐๐๐ช๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐ฉ ๐๐ช๐ก๐ก-๐๐ค๐ช๐จ๐, 1889-1935, which highlights craftโs centrality to the settlement houseโs groundbreaking work in art education at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries.
