Midewin Youth Conservation Corps Summer Program Offers Hands-on Environmental Experience for Local High School Students
Chicago,IL , March 20th The Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is excited to announce the launch of its Youth Conservation Corps Summer Program, running from June 17th to August 9th. Aimed at local high school students aged 14-21, this program provides a unique opportunity for hands-on conservation experience while making a positive impact on the environment.
Participants will engage in various activities including wildlife biology, forestry, and park infrastructure projects. They will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable skills and knowledge in environmental stewardship. Additionally, participants will contribute to community service initiatives such as constructing nature trails, removing invasive species, and reintroducing bison to the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie.

In addition to hands-on experience, participants will receive peer mentorships, attend professional development workshops, and have the opportunity to earn college credits. The program aims to nurture the next generation of environmental stewards by providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to make a difference in their communities.
