Brooklyn Lutz just graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with her BFA in dance. She has been doing freelance choreography for the surrounding central Illinois area, as well as teaching dance and Irish dance for many years now. She is very exciting to be sharing her work through this choreo kick-off!

Her piece, “Any Color You Like” is the physical embodiment and personal retelling of Pink Floyd’s, “The Dark Side of the Moon”. By exploring astrophysical concepts and emotional relationships, this dance ponders, “what is really laid out for us in the universe?” Through choreographic research, we’ve discovered the answer in the devastation of time and the beautiful disaster of life and death. This dance is a love letter to psychedelic rock and the cosmos.

Meet our first Choreo Kick Off Presenter!

The Metdown

Versatile in style, mixed in race, and representing all genders, the MetDown, a pandemic born dance collective, wants to bring our House and hip-hop dance styles to the Movement Matters Perfomance Series. We’re a young group that loves doing all the styles of hip hop; social, house, breakin, lockin, wacking… We want the chance to showcase our vibrant spirit and love of dance to a larger audience.

The MetDown’s ultimate goal is to celebrate the raw and organic nature of Hip Hop, and, at the same time, create a visual testimony to its artistry, athleticism, and musicality equal to any other form of dance.

**Choreo Kick Off 25’**
Presented by **Simantikos Dance Chicago**
Performance Date: **October 4, 2025**
Venue: **Ruth Page Center for the Arts**

Simantikos Dance Chicago is now accepting submissions for **Choreo Kick Off 25’**, an exciting showcase of contemporary dance works. We are seeking **contemporary pieces no longer than 6 minutes** in length. Selected works will be presented on **October 4, 2025**, at the prestigious **Ruth Page Center for the Arts** in Chicago.

Each selected choreographer will receive a **20-minute tech rehearsal the same day** of the performance. In addition, artists will have the opportunity to **rent rehearsal space at our brand-new Simantikos Dance Studio at a deeply discounted rate.**

**To Apply:**

* A video link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) of **new or existing work** as a sample
* A **current resume**

Submissions are due by **July 6th**
We welcome both emerging and established artists to apply.

Simantikos Dance Chicago is seeking applications for participation in Choreo Kick Off 24’. This show will take place at 8pm on December 7th at Ruth Page Center for the Arts. Submissions should be professional in nature and no longer than 7 minutes in length. Choreographers should submit a video of the work (or work in progress),a headshot, and a resume to [email protected] by October 15th. Choreographers receive a comped ticket, professional videography and photography of their works. Post-show, Simantikos will commission 1-3 works.
