This is from when I was hiking across the UP. I was constantly super lonely and depressed and never in the mood to take video and post it, but I did try every once in a while! This moment was probably the most alone I’ve ever been. Deep in the forest, no one around, had to wade through flood waters, everything was wet, and the threat of black bears/wolves/cougars always looming. I’m proud that I was brave enough to do it, but I still feel a sense of failure for not finishing the distance that I planned. Anyway, just wanted to provide a little glimpse into what it was like out there. This was somewhere deep in the woods, on a trail I knew nothing about, on my way from Hulbert, MI to Paradise, MI. When I woke up in the morning and started breaking down, by complete luck a guy was riding his ATV and informed me that the trail was completely flooded like a lake ahead and there was no way I could hike it. Thankfully he gave me a ride to the main road and I continued my journey from there.

This was a big day! So before I ever met my bus, and while it was parked on a street in Salt Lake City, some drunken college students vandalized and smashed out every single window (including the windshields). It was expensive and a lot of work learning how to get all the windows out to bring to the glass shop, but I eventually got them all replaced and put them back in by myself. It was a disheartening undertaking along the way, but I pulled through and got it done and I’m very proud of myself. I don’t care if that’s one of the 7 deadly sins either :)

There’s a rad lil indie fest in Roger’s Park, Chicago that books only two piece bands that’s called Two Piece Fest, and it takes place across multiple venues over 4 days in February. This shot is from Cary’s Lounge, which is the coziest lil dive venue with a badass fire pit in the back patio that I ever did see. They also give you unlimited complimentary bowls of goldfish crackers, the true key to my heart.

My apologies for forgetting the band name, maybe someone can help me out in that?
