Author’s Voice® is the new iteration of a book-signing program called Virtual Book Signing™ (VBS), that was created by Abraham Lincoln Book Shop, Inc., of Chicago back in 2005. History, and especially on the topic of President Abraham Lincoln. This limited enterprise provided our customers – niche fans of U.S. History books – with a chance to meet the leading authors in that field, including Doris
Kearns Goodwin (Author of Team of Rivals and Bully Pulpit), James M. McPherson (Author of Battle Cry of Freedom and Tried By War), Senator George McGovern (Author of Abraham Lincoln: The Sixteenth President), and Sidney Blumenthal (Author of A Self-Made Man [2016]). While meeting these authors over the web via a live-streamed event our customers ordered fine first edition copies of the author’s latest book, which was signed by the author and then shipped to the customer’s home after the event. Our customers met their favorite authors, and built up a collection of signed first edition books. In 2016 VBS is being expanded into a large-scale book signing network, a network that will feature multiple programs similar to VBS, but these programs will feature all kinds of popular literature, including children’s books, young adult lit, sci-fi, romance, mystery, and general non-fiction. This network will provide a go-to source for book-lovers to meet their favorite authors, and to build collections of fine books, usually signed books. The network maintains an archive of high-quality author interviews that keep customers engaged with our programs, even when they are not watching a live event. Our live events are streamed on multiple platforms so customers can watch any time or any place they wish, on any type of electronic device. Author’s Voice® supplements and supports the traditional in-shop book signing event by exporting it to the world. Customers who are in Chicago can come to our studio and meet the authors in person if they wish, and buy the book from us, but no matter where they are they can enjoy the program and order signed books. It does not matter where our customers live, be it Peoria, Poughkeepsie or Perth (Yes, VBS has customers in Australia, in Germany, and even on U.S. overseas military deployment), they can watch our programs, ask questions, and interact live with authors.
