Starting your yoga journey? Don’t be intimidated! As a yoga enthusiast, I’ve learned that modifications are key to a safe and enjoyable practice.

Here are 6 essential tips I wish I knew when I started practicing yoga:

• Using props like blocks, straps, and blankets to support your practice
• Skipping inversions if they don’t feel right for your body
• Listening to your inner wisdom and honoring your limits
• Breathing techniques to calm your mind and focus your practice
• Building a strong foundation with beginner-friendly poses
• Practicing self-care and self-compassion on and off the mat

My yoga classes are meant to be your tranquil embrace, a sanctuary—a place where you are invited to be unapologetically yourself. Here, the journey is not just physical but deeply personal, encouraging you to accept, embrace, and even transform aspects of who you are. This sacred space offers hope, providing an opportunity to explore the delicate balance between your yin and yang, navigating through both the highs and lows of your being.

I feel the practice of yoga is a celebration of individuality. While alignment plays a significant role in asana practice, there is no definitive right or wrong.
On your mat, I’d encourage you to listen to your body and choose what feels natural and comfortable. Every pose, whether simple or advanced, holds its own power and significance, reminding you that this journey is neither a race nor a competition.
