Join us for a special Inauguration lecture with Dr. Anke Pinkert, Professor of German and Media and Cinema Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a dear friend of President Sosulski. Dr. Pinkert will examine the role of higher education—and the humanities in particular—at a moment of profound societal transformation by showing why the questions the humanities ask about meaning, memory, and human flourishing are not peripheral to the work of the university but central to its survival and its promise. https://zurl.co/eMbTy

Crikey! It's a croc (lizard) from Wyoming. 🐊

Meet Bahndwivici ammoskius: a crocodile lizard that lived 52 million years ago in what is now Wyoming. 🌎

Like modern reptiles and amphibians, this Eocene animal couldn't generate its own body heat and relied entirely on its environment to stay warm. ☀️

One way we can learn about ancient environments is by studying the fossils of the animals that lived in them. 🔍

Since Bandwivici ammoskius thrived in Wyoming, we know that—at that time—that environment did not see freezing temperatures. 🥶

Learn more about life after the asteroid in our special exhibition: After the Age of Dinosaurs. ➡️ fieldmuseum.io/visit
