Aretha Franklin really was the Queen of August!! 👑🎶

Our girl stayed with a summertime hit for us to jam to!

In August 1969, Aretha was taking over with “Share Your Love with Me.” The song became a No. 1 R&B hit and spent five weeks at the top.

Then came the summer of 1982. “Jump to It” was making its move up the charts throughout August before hitting No. 1 on September 4. Produced by Luther Vandross and written by Luther and Marcus Miller, the song gave Aretha her 18th No. 1 R&B hit and stayed on top for four consecutive weeks.

And then she did it AGAIN in 1985! 😂🔥 “Freeway of Love” hit No. 1 on July 27 and stayed there for five straight weeks through August 24. That meant Aretha spent practically the entire month of August sitting at the top of Billboard’s R&B chart.

1969: “Share Your Love with Me”
1982: “Jump to It”
1985: “Freeway of Love”

Different decades. Different sounds. Same Aretha.
