If you weld downhill on anything thick, read this.

Downhill looks fast.
It looks clean.
It looks easy.
That's exactly why it tricks you.

Gravity is not your friend here.
The puddle runs ahead of the arc.
The arc is melting metal that already cooled.

That means you get NO pe*******on.
You're just laying metal on top of metal.
It might look pretty, but it's got no bite.

That's called cold lap.
The weld didn't fuse into the parent metal.
Under load, it just peels right off.

On structural, chassis, anything over 3mm, that's dangerous.
It will crack.
It will fail.
And you won't see it until it's too late.

Uphill is slower for a reason.
You are fighting gravity.
You get full pe*******on.
You get proper fusion.
You get a weld that actually holds.

The ONLY time downhill makes sense is thin sheet.
We're talking car body panels, 1mm stuff.
Or an open root on pipe with a cellulose rod, and that's a whole different game.

If you're doing MIG on 5mm plate downhill?
You're not welding.
You're just doing really expensive silicone.

Stop chasing speed.
Start chasing pe*******on.

Weld uphill.

Declaring tank ownership?
Excuse me for being green but I bought a set of torches tank and cart off marketplace. One tank is 125 cu and the other is a bit smaller but bigger than 80 cu I figured I just had to bring them in to pay and get them recertified but matheson is saying their leased tanks and won't accept my bill of sale. They said they would accept my bill of sale if the tanks were stamped sold which their not. Not sure best course of action.

Sue for declaration of ownership like a lost title vehicle seems like the only way but it makes no sense as where I am these tanks are so old they would be title exempt....

Has any of you ran into this stupidity? One tank is stamped linde on the collar but has a old boca gas sticker on it. Who the f truly knows who owns these dinosaurs. I figured my bill of sale with serial number had to legally be accepted for proof of ownership..... Apparently not so. Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you brothers.
