I believe in magic, at least a little. I scheduled the biggest art exhibition of my life to coincide with the anniversary of my dad’s passing. My son’s been bed ridden for two weeks with pneumonia leading up to it, and it’s been killing me working around the clock with my heart in my throat. Today, the day before the opening, and on the very day dad passed away 8 years ago, Ellis did the impossible and just walked out the door to go back to school, looking happy and healthy. “Some Odd Planet” indeed.
Dad, I love you and miss you every day. You might be surprised to know I’m the soccer coach now, and for both of the kids. But I’m still trying to catch up and look this good doing it. I know you worked your magic with Ellis. But like, what took you so long? 😉 haha Thanks pops! As you would say, You’re the man.
For anyone I haven’t told, the show opens Friday (tomorrow) night . Friends like Jason Goldberg and Ray Dybzinski Scott Smellfarmer Sean Wolfe Chris Van Pelt Julia Dunn Terchins husband Angel Ledezma Chris Grabowski will have their mugs on the wall, because they dared to be in music projects I was involved with, and even a huge huge print of a photo Michael Batts snapped in my basement of my band 35 years ago. I’ve been rifling through every visual thing I’ve ever touched to put the show together. Almost done! It’s at Public Works free and open to all.
