Upon its arrival in New York Harbor in June 1885, the statue was reassembled on Liberty Island, formerly known as Bedloe's Island. The process took several months, and on October 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty was officially unveiled to the public. Standing tall at 305 feet, including its pedestal, Lady Liberty has since greeted millions of immigrants and visitors, representing hope and freedom to people from all over the world.
