A quiet candle memorial now rests near 26th Street and Hamlin Avenue for 17-year-old Ricardo Gomez, who was shot and killed Tuesday night in Little Village.

His girlfriend and her mother placed candles near the spot where he was shot.

Police said Ricardo had been dropped off near his girlfriend’s home and was talking on his phone around 11:11 p.m. when a dark-colored SUV drove past. A back-seat passenger opened fire, striking him in the head and chest.

Ricardo was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He was one of eight teenagers shot across Chicago in less than 12 hours. Seven survived. Ricardo was the only one killed.

The SUV was last seen fleeing south on Hamlin. No one is in custody, and Area Four detectives are investigating.

The gangbangers become dads but some somehow still keep gangbanging, the hustlers become contractors, the hotheads become security guards, and the OGs become the old heads sitting outside giving life advice nobody asked for, for me… I guess I turned into Chicago Critter always got a camera in one hand, a story in the other, and somehow end up in the middle of everybody else’s business. šŸ˜‚ who else am I missing?
