The Professional Development Program (PDP) at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice is a licensed State of Illinois provider of Continuing Education (CEUs) for social workers, clinical psychologists, professional counselors, and marriage and family therapists. Grounded in the dynamic interplay of theory, research, and practice, these workshops are inten

ded to inform participants and also to challenge them to integrate new learning into their daily practice. It is recommended that professionals review the CE rules for their licensing board prior to registering for a workshop to ensure that the content meets their renewal requirements. University of Chicago faculty, as well as distinguished guest scholars and practitioners, teach PDP offerings. The curriculum covers a wide range of content, emphasizing the integration of theory, research, and practice. To be added to our mailing list, please call (773) 702.1166 or email [email protected]. “Stop Chicago” community activists are asking Mayor Lori Lightfoot to invest in city-run mental health clinics across the city as the nation’s mental health crisis is compounded by the coronavirus pandemic.

From All My Relations Podcast, Ep. "ThanksTaking or ThanksGiving?": "The path to reconciliation starts with honest acknowledgement of our past, with open eyes, and open hearts for a better future. It is time for us to be in good relation with one another. We can do that by learning and unlearning how to give thanks in a good way."

"Decolonized radical self-care means unpacking our personal, generational, and historical trauma and the ways our people have survived by seeking proximity to a mythical norm reflective of cultural imperialism and patriarchy. Radical self-care requires a process of redefining one’s goals, one’s values, and, ultimately, one’s self for oneself." - Jalana S. Harris, PhD, LCSW-R

For those who are members of marginalized groups, self-care is wrapped up in our liberation. Knowing that our liberation isn’t found in adjusting to an unjust society, we recognize self-care can’t be realized just through bubble baths.
