"Versatility meets flexibility on this concert recording. Saxophonist Mars Williams tours with the Psychedelic Furs, plays Christmas carols in the style of Albert Ayler and participates in one of the most enduring and frequently gigging free improv ensembles of recent years, Extraordinary Popular Delusions. Tollef Østvang drums in the Scandinavian free jazz bands All Included, Friends & Neighbors and Universal Indians. They were born 30 years apart, but don’t get any punk-meets-godfather ideas about this encounter. They’re more concerned with the emotional truth of a gesture than its volume, which frees them to explore the full range of interaction from wooly blowing to near-silent evocations of emotions so complex they need to be played, not stated" (Bill Meyer)
