Brutal but true. 👀

Steven Spielberg has so much built-up goodwill that people are pretending Disclosure Day was way better than it actually was.

Many fans were excited to see Spielberg return to the genre he helped define with ET and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The idea of him tackling the modern “disclosure” conversation feels like a full-circle moment. Unfortunately, Disclosure Day was just not very good.

Despite running two and a half hours and being full of action sequences, it feels like not a lot happens in the movie. It's full of heavy-handed clichés, generic dialogue, laughable CGI, and excessive product placement. Some even said they initially thought the movie was trying to be bad satire because of how over-the-top and poorly executed certain scenes felt.

I thought the CGI was distractingly bad. Why did we need a bad CGI fox to... sit in the road. They couldn't get a real fox to sit in the road?

However, Disclosure Day currently has an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If M. Night Shyamalan directed the exact same movie, a lot of these same people would be slamming it. I think people are giving it inflated reviews because we all love and respect Steven Spielberg so much.
