: Multiple clean plate layers, a Phantom Camera, AE particles for steam and a little girl who can sort of stand still for a few seconds (and when she can’t - grab a frame and fake the parallax) was all we needed to pull off this cool Freeze Effect. Being on set to make sure we got everything was helpful too.

Projection Mapping
How to turn a still image into a 3D object? Projection mapping lets us use still images and project them onto 3D geometry in Cinema 4D. This allows us the freedom to manipulate the rotation of the 3D geometry and we get cool results like this machine firing up and turning into a transition.

: Sometimes you just have to shoot it yourself.
When the on-set Fire Marshall 🔥 said it was too windy to light the Japanese Lanterns, we were brought in to add 1000 lanterns in post 🏮. Without time or budget for CGI, we found a pond, put a lantern on a string and shot it drifting up multiple times. Same with the lanterns on the water. An additional benefit of doing it this way was getting realistic reflections in the water in the same pass.
