The Populous-designed Covenant Health Ballpark in Knoxville was named Ballpark of the Year in its first season. More than 36,000 square feet of cross-laminated timber in the roofing system saved 434 metric tons of carbon—the equivalent of taking 92 cars off the road. This home in the Cascade Mountains is a beautiful tribute to materials, designed by Johnston Architects. The home’s siding is western red cedar with wood coatings by Sansin. To protect the homeowners' dogs from other wildlife, a fence made by expert metalworkers incorporated scenes from around the valley and connected with the landscape rather than shutting it out.
