Women’s History Month spotlight: Aja Graydon’s “Far Away.” 🤎

“Far Away” appears on ‘Surrender to Love’, the debut album by Kindred the Family Soul, released by Hidden Beach Recordings in 2003.

As the lead single, the song introduced a sound rooted in love and partnership. It helped the album earn a Soul Train Award and a BET Award nomination, establishing Kindred the Family Soul as a defining voice in neo-soul.

As one half of the duo, Aja’s voice and artistry remains central to the group’s sound while continuing to define Hidden Beach’s legacy.

“A Long Walk" appears on Jill Scott's debut album 'Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1', released by Hidden Beach Recordings in 2000.

The album earned multiple Grammy nominations and went multi-platinum, helping define the sound of neo-soul. 'Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1' reached No. 2 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart and No. 17 on the Billboard 200.

Known for her blend of spoken word, jazz, and R&B, Jill continues to shape the sound of neo-soul. 💿

Women’s History Spotlight: Brenda Russell’s “Walkin’ in New York” 🤎
“Walkin’ in New York” appears on Brenda Russell’s album ‘Paris Rain’, released by Hidden Beach Recordings in 2000. The track reflects the soulful songwriting that has defined her career.

‘Paris Rain’ marked Russell’s return to solo recording after a hiatus and featured collaborations with Carole King, Dave Koz, and Sheila E.

A Grammy-winning songwriter and composer, Russell has written classics recorded by Donna Summer, Diana Ross, and Luther Vandross, and co-wrote the Broadway musical The Color Purple. 💜

Released in 2005 on the 'Inner Beauty Movement, “Smooth" received nationwide radio airplay with support from Stevie Wonder and radio personality Michael Baisden.
