Lyndell DeYoung, 35, is accused of masterminding the 2024 murder of U.S. Postal Service letter carrier Octavia Redmond.
She was shot multiple times on July 19, 2024, while walking her delivery route in the 12100 block of South Harvard Avenue (West Pullman neighborhood).
Prosecutors allege that DeYoung orchestrated the ex*****on. Upon his arrest, DeYoung gave a statement detailing the plot. He allegedly threatened the life of a 15-year-old boy, ordering him to kill Redmond or face death himself.
Prior Convictions: The 15-year-old shooter was arrested in Iowa in October 2024. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced in July 2026 to five years in juvenile detention, the maximum allowed under Illinois juvenile law.
Offender was arrested by members of the Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force on August 24, 2026, in the 500 block of E. 80th St.
He was identified as an offender who participated in the murder of a 48-year-old female victim, who was fatally shot on July 19, 2024, in the 12100 block of S. Harvard Ave.
The offender was placed into custody and charged accordingly. No additional information is available at this time.
