**Extreme and Dangerous Waves on Lake Michigan - Friday, September 5, 2025 (1 AM - 6 PM CDT)**

Strong winds from the west-southwest are expected, with gusts reaching between 35 to 50 mph and consistent winds around 25 to 35 mph. Waves could reach heights of 8 to 16 feet from New Buffalo, MI, to Muskegon, MI, while areas in northwestern Indiana and northeastern Illinois may experience waves between 2 to 10 feet. Gale warnings are in effect for parts of Michigan, northeastern Illinois, and northwestern Indiana along the lakeshore.

There is a possibility of minor lakeshore flooding in low-lying areas that lack protection from the winds. Please exercise caution if you plan to go surfing. Thank you.

Every year, I usually chase at least two tropical systems along the Gulf Coast. Over the past few years, I've encountered hurricanes like Debby, Ian, Ida, Idalia, Francine, Beryl, Milton, Helene, and more. The amount of destruction and flooding, along with the many people in need of help, is heartbreaking and often drives my anxiety up the wall. I am currently monitoring the chances of increasing tropical activity from mid to late September in the Gulf, Florida, and the East Coast. I will be chasing the next tropical system regardless of the circumstances.
