I originally covered this story in 2021, but this time I wanted to center the conversation where it belongs: on Andrea’s mental health and the role religious extremism played in her descent into psychosis.
This isn’t just a story about a crime. It’s about postpartum psychosis, medical neglect, rigid belief systems, and a system that failed a severely ill woman long before it failed five children.
