WFMT content creators are petitioning to join 📢 and we’re doing it in the spirit of Studs Terkel, a legacy voice on our station and who played an essential role in the founding of SAG-AFTRA here in Chicago.

Studs is a broadcasting legend who joined the staff and WFMT in 1952, where his radio show ran until 1997. He interviewed countless guests ranging from Mahalia Jackson to Michael Tilson Thomas to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He had conversations with various other guests throughout this time discussing the subjects of labor unions and their benefits. We honor his work today!

Did you hear the news?? 📢 Yesterday, WFMT content creators announced our petition to join 📢 we’re working for a positive future for the radio makers and listeners of our station in Chicago and beyond! We truly love WFMT and want to ensure its continued success & look forward to working with management to build a station that thrives for years to come.

Voluntary recognition of the unit would enable management and employees to move forward collaboratively, avoiding the need for a protracted election process through the National Labor Relations Board.
