A review of Sketchy Nights by
“ An event called The Re-awakening, a social art party, was full of vibrant energy, movement, and creativity—and while I was excited to be there, I also felt slightly intimidated. I worried I might become overstimulated by everything happening around me. Then I spotted the Sketchy Night Workshop table and felt instantly drawn to it.
There, I met Christian—the multidisciplinary artist, curator, and gallerist behind the concept—whose magnetic and welcoming energy made the space feel like a soft landing. It became a quiet, creative corner I could escape to and reset.
The workshop invited us to draw based on a series of thoughtful prompts inspired by an album—this time, an Isaiah Rashad project (which was an extra treat, since I’m a fan of his work). What stood out to me was how deep the prompts went. Christian didn’t just ask you to doodle; he invited you to reminisce, reflect, and connect each song or lyric to your personal journey. It was playful, therapeutic, and unexpectedly profound.
As a writer, it reminded me of another part of my creative self—one I hadn’t tapped into since childhood. I still have my drawings, and I often look back at them with fondness. The whole experience left me inspired. I’d absolutely love to attend another Sketchy Night Workshop.”
