Will TT get banned? IDK, but even though my daughter doesn’t post anymore, I’ll miss my her account. Her deadpan satirical humor mostly about being a female comp sci major caught a wave and she gained sometimes over a million views on her posts.
What’s funny is I found out from my friend and when I went to look, I was blocked. 🤣🤣🤣 When I asked her why, she said she didn’t want me telling her how to do more on her account. Sure enough, one day I asked to see her emails on sponsorships and I must’ve sent her article links at least once a week. She was right. It’s hard not to parent when you’re a parent because you want them to do the best.
She didn’t need my help, The way she managed her time, maintained her grades, and the way she handled her comments and preserving her “dignity” is not something that is easy. I had a few videos go viral on TT and every time I opened the app, it said “You have 4000+ comments” That was for 2 videos, not every day for years.
Chloe created a little community in her comments, oftentimes not even reading past the first 10. It took a life of its own and you read comments by other students talking about school, comp sci, complimenting and trolling her, but feeling connected during a time when a lot of us felt isolated during the pandemic.
When she unblocked me, it took me months but I watched every one of her videos and read some comments and couldn’t be more proud of the way she handled herself on social media.
She’s going to tell me “posting these is cringe” but if you want to take a peek at some of my favorite posts of hers (that didn’t get the sound removed) slide through and enjoy!
