Jesus is real.

Shout out to my mentors for showing me this was possible

Shout out to all the Black pre med students I met along the way who are currently finishing up their training

Shout out to my parents for financially supporting their grown child longer than expected to I’m gonna say doctor and not medical student
Wow.

Shout out to God for giving me the attention to ensure
Wow, I’m really about to walk into rooms saying, “Hi, my name is Dr. Vics” is wild!!

This is 25y in the making and finally my reality. PINCH ME!!

No more student doctor. No more pre med student. No more I’m aspiring/ dreaming to be a physician

But baby I am...THAT

Glorv be to God!

Everyone’s journey will look different

As someone who sat 5x, here are things I wish I’d done/known sooner

I’d previously completed an MCAT course twice and that didn’t serve me well.

I got a private tutor who was a 3rd year medical student. She created a study schedule, taught me how to review questions properly by supplementing them with video and content review literature.

I thought I was ready for the exam, but I hadn’t hit my goal and she forced me to self reflect and push my test back until I reached my goal so that this would be my last attempt

The biggest difference was the question log that I kept for all of my incorrect questions. Now I had a question/content log of my weaknesses staring me in the face to focus on

If you have additional tips please share to help others get over the hump

I never knew Id receive so much hate and racist comments for sharing how my support system showed up for me on graduation day

I thank God for deliverance

I thank God that He is working on my pettiness be babyyyyy old me😮‍💨

I thank God for grace be Father, they know NOT what they do🙏🏾

Either way, it's up and it's stuck
Regardless of how naysayers feel, I STILL earned this degree and start working as a resident physician in t-24d😭✨

Sincerely your forever fave med bestie,
Dr Vics
