I guess we’re adventure cat people now. 😅🎒🐈 Thanks for leaning in, Leo Rey 😘❤️

Today was Sylvie’s very first outing in her backpack.

There were a few tiny “huuurmph?” protests at first… but after a couple of stops, some treats, and lots of reassurance, she settled in and started quietly taking everything in.

So… welcome to the beginning of Sylvie’s adventure cat era. ❤️

I have a feeling this is only the first of many little adventures together.

We took hundreds of photos that night…

But this is what it actually felt like.

One minute we were walking away from a disappointing evening.

The next…

We were dancing on Oak Street Beach while fireworks exploded over our heads.

Sometimes the best memories aren’t planned.

Sometimes you just follow the music. ❤️

When I lived in Chicago years ago, the Signature Room was one of my favorite places in the city.

I knew there had been renovations since, but I was excited to share this place with Leo Rey.

Instead…

We walked into a tourist trap with the city hidden behind a wall of fog.

The cocktails were expensive. The lighting was offensive.

The vibe just… wasn’t there.

We decided to split one drink, take one lap around the floor, and call it.

As we were leaving, I looked at Leo and said,

*“What if we just go to Oak Street Beach and see what happens?”*

No reservations.

No plan.

Just a feeling.

It turned out to be one of the best decisions we made all weekend.

Sometimes the best nights don’t happen because everything goes according to plan.

Sometimes they happen because you leave when the vibe is off.

Tomorrow… you’ll see exactly why.

A day late… but America deserves a proper birthday weekend. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

Celebrated with rooftop views, beach clubs, way too many snacks, and my favorite adventure buddy. Chicago absolutely delivered.

We somehow turned 26 hours into enough memories (and content 😅) to last the rest of the month. This is just the beginning.

I love you Leo Rey ! This was the best day ever ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸🤩🇺🇸💙❤️🤍

Today my therapist confirmed something I’ve suspected for a long time: I have PTSD.

Oddly enough, I didn’t feel broken hearing those words. I felt seen.

For years, I’ve questioned why I struggle with hypervigilance, panic attacks, feeling like I’m always waiting for the next crisis, or why rest feels so foreign to me.

The truth is, the things that happened to me were a big deal. They were hard. And anybody carrying what I’ve carried would struggle too.

This diagnosis isn’t an excuse or my entire identity. It’s a lens that helps me understand myself with more compassion.

Healing isn’t linear, but today I feel validated. And that’s a beautiful place to start. 💜

Sunday vs. right now.

One photo is me outside in the sun, smiling, dressed, functioning.
The other is me exhausted, swollen-eyed, makeup-free, trying to recover quietly in bed.

Both are real.

I think one of the hardest parts about burnout and nervous system recovery is that people only see flashes of you at your best. They don’t always see the hours afterward where your body crashes, your brain fog rolls in, or simple tasks suddenly feel overwhelming again.

I’m still healing.
Still rebuilding.
Still learning how to exist without running myself into the ground trying to prove I’m okay.

Even on my best days, I’m not fully back yet. And that’s been frustrating to accept as someone who used to move through life with so much energy, ambition, intensity, and momentum.

But I’m learning that healing isn’t always dramatic.
Sometimes it’s just:
getting out of bed,
answering a text,
eating something nourishing,
taking a shower,
going outside for ten minutes,
or allowing yourself to rest without guilt.

I know I’ll have my comeback.
Not because I’ll suddenly become who I used to be, but because I’m slowly becoming someone softer, wiser, more honest, and more sustainable.

So if I seem distant sometimes, slower than usual, quieter, or inconsistent… this is why.

Thank you to the people who have stayed patient with me while I learn how to do the same for myself 💞

(Also slowly rebuilding over on )
