Puritan Themes is Emil Amos' 17th album under the Holy Sons moniker, his 4th for Thrill Jockey Records and a tentpole album in his wide-ranging output. Puritan Themes’ relaxed aura is focused through a laid-back west coast 70's lens, injecting Amos’ wry wit and tinges of darkness into lush songs that drift like dreamy, featherlight clouds.

Everything is recorded, performed and mixed by Amos, who has been a beacon in the world of home-production for decades now, a progenitor and godfather of modern bedroom-pop and one-man-orchestras, making dense, organic sounding arrangements primarily on his own.

The second new track from genius electro-acoustic composer Nobukazu Takemura's upcoming album is now streaming!

"an ephemeral radiant" is touching and bittersweet, beautifully unpredictable in its voices and their melodic movements. It begins and ends with the subtle sound of glass scraping against glass, creating the spark of the soul.

It's back now, though, and listening to the first track gave us chills all over again like it was our first time hearing it!

This is a new album from Manslaughter 777, the duo of Lee (The Body) and Zac Jones (Nothing, MSC). Both producers interested in jungle, breakbeat, and dub, they've made dance tracks that are SUPER crispy and SUPER crunchy. The bespoke LP jacket was designed and hand-printed by the band, and these tunes are NOT ON STREAMING SERVICES in a real bootleg guerrilla style. Get your fingerprints on an LP copy (which does come with a digital download).

Nobukazu has been an incredibly interesting and inventive artist for 40 years. He got his start in Japan as a DJ and in a hip-hop group with EYE from Boredoms, and has since worked with Tortoise, Steve Reich, Jim O'Rourke, Yo La Tengo, Takako Minekawa and more.

Much of the music of Open Close was composed for live performance, and in recording Prekop has captured the flow and energy of a live performance through the lens of a deft craftsman, an equilibrium of intuitive composition and the excitement of possibility.

“I like simple words that become complicated if you think of them more than a second or two, beyond face value. And Open Close could be: close as in ‘close to you’ or close as in ‘close the door.’"

True of the title and the music, Prekop is a stickler for subtlety. "If it gives everything away too quickly, then I’m not interested.”
