In Autumn 2025 the collaborative context for International Anthem and Qobuz’s partnership expanded to include events held at 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 in Chicago (the new home of IARC HQ).
International Anthem and Qobuz’s co-presentations at The Land School have yielded two live EPs as well - International Anthem @ The Land School (Volume 1) by Tom Skinner, and International Anthem @ The Land School (Volume 2) by Rob Mazurek.

The Land School will be the location for the next co-presentation as well. Please join us on Thursday November 5, as Los Angeles based beatmaker and vocalist megiapa returns to Chicago to perform and celebrate the release of her new album Intentions.

For this very special event, megiapa will perform with a unique ensemble of Chicago based musicians including 𝗡𝗮𝘆𝗱𝗷𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻 (drums), 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 (bass), and 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗹 (keys).
This will be megiapa’s first Chicago appearance since February, when she performed in A Listening Space at The Land School, to cap off a week of final mixing sessions for Intentions, which happened in International Anthem’s studio on the second floor of the same building!

𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝘀𝘁, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, Amsterdam-based Bolivian/Brazilian multi-instrumentalist/vocalist 𝗜𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗴𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶 and Puerto Rican Chicago ex-pat drummer/composer 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘆 assembled a unique ensemble to perform music from their critically-acclaimed, 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 & 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 co-released 2024 album 𝐌𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐙𝐗 at 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 in Brooklyn.

It was the tail end of their debut US tour, just days after they performed the music at the illustrious Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee. The ensemble included a cast of Rosaly’s longtime comrades from his many years on the Chicago jazz and improvised music scenes, including 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗟𝘂𝘅 (Isotope 217, Iron & W**e), percussionist 𝗠𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 (BASIC, Kurt Vile), keyboardist 𝗕𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝗲 (Ty Segall, Bonnie Prince Billy), and clarinetist 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲 (Antibalas, TV on the Radio), with the addition of Brooklyn born/based, International Anthem label-mate 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮-𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗲 on trumpet.

The two pieces included on International Anthem @ Public Records (Volume 11) are “𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘁𝘀” and “𝗦𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘀,” which were the two final pieces performed by the ensemble that night. Listen exclusively on Qobuz today: linktr.ee/intlanthem

“The polyrhythmic songs, which are almost entirely self-produced, land somewhere between funk and downtempo, Donald Byrd and Bonobo, carried by megiapa’s cool harmonies and slick transitions. The fuller arrangements reintroduce the bedroom producer as a bandleader, and showcase her casual fluidity.”

Please join us October 23rd and 24th as artist 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗻 spatially and sonically activates the Auditorium of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 across two days of live performance.

Bergman will be joined by an ensemble featuring 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗕𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗠𝗮𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝘆, and 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗲𝗿 to present two performances of his new Bass Box Marimba, constructed from organ pipes salvaged from a Chicago-area church.

Known for integrating sound, sculpture, and performance into immersive artistic experiences, Bergman’s visual art practice focuses on handcrafted bronze bells, gongs, and sculptural instruments that explore rhythm, ritual, and vibration. Recordings that Bergman created with his custom instruments and sound sculptures are slated for release on Leaving Records in 2027.

𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 - “𝗜𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲”

Chicago-raised and Los Angeles-based composer, producer, saxophonist and synthesist 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 (SML, Jeff Parker ETA IVtet, Flea and The Honora Band) shares “𝗜𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲” today, a new track from his forthcoming solo album 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 (out October 23 on physical formats and digital download, with streaming release to follow on November 10, via International Anthem / Nonesuch).

On “It Can Be Everywhere” Johnson creates a dreamscape with glittering synths, ethereal saxophone pads, and elegiac saxophone/violin melodies. The track has more in common with Cluster, Bitchin Bajas, Tangerine Dream, or Michael Hoenig’s classic Departure from the Northern Wasteland than with any jazz standard. Repetitious low-end synthetics and oscillating tonal polyrhythmics build to a hypnotic drone for Johnson’s intimate sax melody to sit atop, eventually overtaking the listener’s focus and transmuting into an almost orchestral high-register siren ring, no doubt due in part to violin contributions from 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝘁.

Johnson says of the track: “‘It Can Be Everywhere’ is both statement and prompt — to imagine something greater, beyond where we currently stand, and to know that we can also carry that imagined place with us.”

The track also comes via video filmed and directed by 𝗠𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆, who doubles down on the dreamscape with visions of a masked family doing domestic duties, nature walks, and dancing in their living room, all over long, Fellinian stares through the fourth wall.
