In the pursuit of freedom, justice, and equality for all, we have not yet arrived.

The American dream is yet to be realized - and is under threat in our perilous time.

And so we rise up. ✨💞

Joining hands and hearts, across time and space, with one another and with those who have gone before us and given their lives to the cause, and we

Stand together this Independence Day to declare:

✊🗽🇺🇸

To cruelty, greed, and bigotry, WE DISSENT

To authoritarian rule, WE DISSENT

To the illegal kidnapping and disappearing of our beloved immigrants, WE DISSENT

To military and state sanctioned violence, WE DISSENT

To fear-mongering, scapegoating, and manipulation, WE DISSENT

To the ongoing, illegal and blatant violations of our constitution, WE DISSENT

To oligarchy, WE DISSENT

To stripping the resources and support for our most vulnerable persons, WE DISSENT

To the ongoing funding and support of genocide, colonialism and war crimes, WE DISSENT

🔁 [Repost] Each year on March 31, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to raise awareness about transgender people. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the disproportionate levels of poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces.

International TDOV was created in 2010 by trans advocate Rachel Crandall. Crandall, the head of Transgender Michigan, created TDOV in response to the overwhelming majority of media stories about transgender people being focused on violence. She hoped to create a day where people could celebrate the lives of transgender people, while simultaneously acknowledging that due to discrimination, not every trans person can or wants to be visible.

She was a healer. 🕊️

A comforter. 🙏

A voice of the people. A voice of tender care, deep wisdom, and hopeful insight. ✊💞

Our hearts are heavy with her tragic loss, and especially for all those who wakes closely and collaborated with her. 💔

One of the true Queens. 👑

A trailblazing pioneer as a woman in hip-hop as a member of The Sequence - the first all-female hip-hop group. ✊🎤

And a titan in neo-soul and R&B, her spirit will continue to carry us on.

She is forever with us. 🙏
