A love letter to our AMY family ✨

We are truly SO proud of everyone involved in this project. Belladonna has grown so much as a collective while working with all of you amazing human beings. It has been an ACTUAL dream for us to create with artists who want to take a leap into something new & challenging and we are in awe that we get to share this with y’all every single day. Working with some of the most professional & talented folks we’ve ever collabed with has been an absolute honor. So thank you for trusting us and diving into this show headfirst, despite having full lives and responsibilities outside of this production. We honestly couldn’t imagine putting on our first show with any other crew. We love you guys so much ❤️

✨Meet our last Amy || Kendra Jean✨

Expertise: Directing, Vocals, Songwriting, Dancing, Giggling & Napping 💤

Why you pursue creativity:
iiii actually think creativity pursues us and we either say yes to that vulnerability or we don’t. Personally, I cope with substantial life lessons by creating emotional performance visuals in my mind in order to fully process & heal. Openly sharing my feelings was always hard for me, so I kept a mental journal of untapped art for 28 years until I learned how to communicate without shame. But still, telling a story with words alone doesn’t always allow listeners to experience the full spectrum of emotions being shared by the artist. I LOVE a visual performance that encourages me to think, reflect and empathize with another person through their movements. Being able to cast meaningful vision for this group of people has been extremely healing & humbling for me and a lot of the Amy’s in this cast (who are all absolute MONSTERS at what they do btw) so its been wildly satisfying to watch this show unfold over the last few months.

Why you said yes to this show:
Belladonna is my FAMILY! We brainstormed on how to kickstart our production goals for a year before Amy happened because we wanted to do something truly meaningful and different... So when the Welsh-Johnson sisters approached us with this idea, it clicked immediately. We had the perfect team & community to pull this dynamic show together quickly and WE 👏🏼 DID 👏🏼 IT 👏🏼

Amy Winehouse left an iconic mark on the music industry as a whole, but in recent months has absolutely changed my life as a friend who I want to protect & remember fondly. I only hope we can share her story and help folks further understand her artistry in a new light. There was so much more to her than what was seen in the tabloids and we want to showcase her genuine character the best way we possibly can.

“Anything human can be felt through music, which means that there is no limit to the creating that can be done with music. You can take the same phrase from any song and cut it up so many different ways - it’s infinite.” I love this quote by Nina Simone-it inspires me to keep creative even when I’m feeling unproductive. Music and art have a ceiling that is everlasting!

Why you said yes to this show :
I have always been an Amy fan and admirer, I often think about what she would be creating if she were still on this earth. I feel so incredibly lucky to be apart of this show-Belladonna’s doing big things Chico, look out.

Why you pursue creativity :
I pursue creativity because it allows me to express myself, think outside the box, and find innovative solutions to problems. Being a plus size performer has taught me to showcase my talent, creativity, and passion for the arts without conforming to social beauty standards. Embracing my body and sharing my talents on stage brings me confidence, empowerment, and the opportunity to inspire others to do the same. Creativity brings joy, fulfillment, and a sense of accomplishment to my life. And I’m also so sickening, I can’t deprive the world of Miss Ruby.

Why you said yes to this show :
When the opportunity came to me, and I was asked to emcee an Amy Winehouse r***e, my first thought was, seems correct. Unknowingly, it would be more than just a show.. it’s turned into a self rediscovery, and self realization that everyone in some capacity can relate to Amy. My love for Winehouse stems back to middle school listening to “F**CK me pumps” on my first generation ipod. Her struggles and LOVE have helped me tremendously on my sober journey, and I can’t wait to honor her by performing sober, almost 8 months. And to Jeanie and Sandii at BDC, THANK YOU for helping guide me through my personal struggles during this spectacular show.
