๐โจ A little over a year ago, I made a big decision that at the time completely unnerved me: I joined the Board of Directors at Alianza DV Services.
Giving my time, effort, and love to causes close to my heart ๐ has always been a personal mission. This was different though. As a domestic violence survivor, I was hesitant to become more involved with Alianza. I didnโt want to be reminded of my own trauma every day.
But, I then remembered how I had no idea what to do or where to turn when I was living in a terrifying situation. Back then, I didnโt know organizations like Alianza even existed. And so, after talking it over with good, supportive friends โ โyou got this Mija!โ ๐ฅน โ I realized that Iโm not only strong enough to do the toughest things, but that helping others heal would help me heal too. โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
A year later, Iโm chair of the Resource Committee on the Alianza Board of Directors. Weโre hosting a โFriendraisingโ ๐ซถ event in partnership with the lovely Springfield Community Theater of MA on October 16 (more info coming very soon!) to raise community awareness of Alianza and their exceptional services. And, stay tuned for Alianzaโs first fundraiser in several years, happening in April 2026. ๐
Today, Iโm so delighted to announce that, because of the time Iโve given to Alianza, my company awarded me a $500 grant to present to the organization ๐ฅน. Iโm tremendously grateful to Liberty Mutual Insurance Torchbearers for supporting those of us who love to give back. ๐โจ
