🌀 Tropical Storm Erin – Gilchrist County Update 🌀
📅 Thursday, August 14, 2025 – 11:00 AM AST

The National Hurricane Center reports Tropical Storm Erin is located at 16.4°N, 49.7°W with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph, moving west at 17 mph. Erin is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane by Friday as it moves toward the northeastern Caribbean.

Current Status for Gilchrist County:
• Erin remains far from Florida and poses no immediate threat to our area.
• The storm is expected to pass near or north of the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico over the weekend.
• Beyond this weekend, Erin could affect portions of the Bahamas, the East Coast of the United States, or Bermuda early next week. Forecast confidence decreases after five days.
• Now is the time to review your hurricane preparedness plan and make sure your emergency supply kit is ready as we are in the peak of hurricane season.

Monitoring and Communication:
Gilchrist County Emergency Management continues to monitor Tropical Storm Erin closely and will share updates if the forecast changes in a way that could impact our community.
