***SHOOTING UPDATE***On 08-17-2025 At about 12:30 am I was advised of a male suspect that had shot off a gun at the City Auditorium . There was an event taking place at the event center. 2 officers were working the event. Officer located the suspect quickly, and he was taken into custody. Suspect was intoxicated and was just shooting the gun in the air. Gun was also recovered. At no time did he threaten anyone with the weapon; he was just reckless with his actions. No injuries reported. ~Police Chief Jerrald Johnson

***UPDATE FROM POLICE CHIEF JOHNSON***
•Watch the crosswalks for students. Pedestrians have the right of way.
•No cell phone usage in a School Zone and watch your speed.
•Follow school buses at a safe distance, keeping in mind they make frequent stops.
•Watch for children around buses and remember they may not always look for vehicles before crossing the street.
•Always stop for flashing red lights or a stop sign on a school bus regardless of which direction you’re headed, unless the bus is on the opposite roadway of a divided highway. Continue once the bus has moved, the flashing lights stop flashing, or the bus driver signals it’s okay to pass.
•We can all help to protect our future leaders.
