Hornets bring end to Savage season in 3-2 overtime loss The soccer season came to an end for the Savannah soccer team with a semifinal loss to Chillicothe on Nov. 1 in the Class 2 District 8 Tournament. The meeting with the Hornets was the third of the year between the two Midland Empire Conference rivals, and Chillicothe won them all.
However, this one was the closest, 3-2, in overtime, to move onto the finals.
Lucas Bowie and Brendan McKnight each scored in the second half for the Savages, who finished the season 5-14.
To reach the semifinals, the Savages posted a 8-0 win over Cameron on Oct. 30.
The game was only 2-0 at halftime after a pair of goals from McKnight in the 10th and 31st minutes. Brighton Kurre had the assist on the first goal.
In the second half, McKnight added two more goals, in the 47th and 59th minutes. Lucas Sarsany scored a pair of goals, with assists on those by Connor Engel and Keynin Umphry, coming in the 51st and 57th minutes.
