Just so everyone knows, Arizona Horse Connection is a free magazine, and we distribute at as many feed and tack stores as we can for people to pick up. Pet Food Depot on Cave Creek Road has been one of our larger distributor spots for years, and we had a rack (along with probably five other racks for other publications) in the front of the store under their porch/patio. When we tried to delivered our June issue last Friday, NONE of the racks were there. The gentleman inside did not know what happened to them, but he told us he thought they were stolen and to call to talk to the owner about it this week. Just got off the phone with a girl who proceeded to tell me the owner was sick of the books flying all over the place (which I understand) and he threw all of the books AND RACKS away. When I started to question why they didn't just call us, she literally hung up on me. I truly understand that it is not the store's responsibility to take care of the free publications, and if they didn't want the book there anymore, all it would have taken was a phone call (not only is our phone number obviously in the magazine, it is also on our rack), and we would have been happy to have come out and picked up the rack and taken them off as a distributor. These steel racks are not exactly cheap to have made, and we have lost quite a few over the years, when stores have gone out of business without our knowing it, and yes, I believe some were definitely stolen, but to not even give us the opportunity to pick it up when we have been distributing there for over 25 years, was very disturbing to me. So if you were used to picking up our magazine at Pet Food Depot, it obviously will never be there again. The books will be at all of the other normal places we deliver in the Valley.
