Champion Newspapers The Champion is a weekly newspaper serving Chino, Chino Hills and south Ontario with local news and advertising. It was founded in 1887 by Richard Gird.

Champion Publications sold Champion Newspapers to Golden State Newspapers on January 31, 2017. Champion Newspapers publishes two community newspapers serving the Chino Valley area in Southern California. The Chino Champion and the Chino Hills Champion are delivered by carriers and by mail to subscribers and others reaching over 90% of Chino Valley single family homes every Saturday morning. Single

copies are also available for $1 at newsstands and stores throughout the Chino Valley. Founded on November 11, 1887, the Champion is a complete award-winning “NEWS” paper. We publish all the LOCAL news you would expect to find in a community newspaper including (breaking) News, Sports, Entertainment, People, Business, Opinion, Obituaries, Religion, Schools, feature stories about local personalities and local advertising. The Champion is recognized as a legally adjudicated newspaper of general circulation publishing legal notices for the cities of Chino and Chino Hills, the County of San Bernardino, the Chino Valley Unified School District and for local businesses (County Court Decree Number 73453, issued August 5, 1952). Total combined full-run net circulation for both our newspapers is 41,697 (CAC Pub Stmt, 2nd quarter, 2017). Estimated weekly adult audience in print and online exceeds 90,000 readers. Chino and Chino Hills police officers and employees of California Institution for Men and California Institution for Women ran five-mile routes Monday afternoon during the 40th annual Southern California Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The Southern California Special Olympic Games are scheduled for Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 at Cal State University-Long Beach.

The Inland Empire-area torch run relay began just before 12:20 p.m. with Chino Hills Police Department employees starting at Riverside and Peyton drives, going south on Peyton and east on Chino Hills Parkway before handing off the lit torch to employees of the Chino Police and the California Institution for Men and California Institution for Women, near Ramona Avenue.

From there, the Chino officers ran east to Central Avenue, north to Phillips Boulevard and handed the torch to Montclair Police at Monte Vista Avenue.

Montclair police handed the torch to Ontario Police, which will hand it off to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and California Rehabilitation Center employees, who will then give the torch to Corona Police.
